Based at the Campbeltown Creamery

Through careful strategic decisions, a drive for exceptional quality and a focus on processes, First Milk's future has significantly improved in the past year and has put the business in a more stable position. Further to the on-going transformation of the business we are now seeking to appoint an Engineering Team Leader reporting to the Site Manager at Campbeltown.

As the Engineering Team Leader you will have overall responsibility for setting and maintaining engineering standards across the site. Through your prior hands on experience you will ensure we have a reliable and efficient plant and services at all time, through effective plant maintenance, fault analysis and correction, efficiency improvements and breakdown work.

Principle accountabilities:

  • Oversee the engineering function at the creamery in order to maintain reliable and efficient operation of plant and services
  • Provide constant and economical supply of a wide range of services and utilities in order to maintain production at cost effective levels
  • Prepare an annual budget for the Engineering Department and creamery building maintenance and assist in compilation of the creamery budget and capital development programme.
  • Purchase, administer and maintain comprehensive stocks of engineering spares and equipment to protect against plant and equipment breakdown.
  • Contribute to the creamery management team and liaise with production to ensure correct functioning and planned maintenance of plant in line with production activities and requirements.
  • Plan and prepare capital development project costs in order to support capital development programme and submissions.
  • Control project work to ensure projects are completed within cost and on time.
  • Maintain the documentation for Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Management systems within the department
  • Engage and collaborate with the team to embed a culture of continuous improvement.

Key knowledge, skills and expertise:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in engineering discipline - specifically electrical and electronic controls 
  • First class leadership skills - demonstrates ability to bring teams on the journey
  • Effective communication and influencing at all levels across the business
  • Robust planning and organisational skills
  • People development and upskilling experience
