Staff at the Pembrokeshire Cheese Company are celebrating two Gold wins for their Mature cheddar at this year's World Cheese Awards which took place at the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham on 28th November. The cheddar shook off global competition at the awards, the largest and most diverse of its kind in the world, to take the double accolade.
The titles bring to an end a successful awards season for the cheddar, having picked up Best Welsh Cheese at the prestigious International Cheese Awards in July and Gold in the Extra Mature category at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Pembrokeshire is produced at the Haverfordwest Creamery, owned by farmers cooperative First Milk. Creamery manager John Thomas says, "It's an honour to be recognised at the World Cheese Awards. This is a great achievement for everyone involved in making our cheese, from our local farmer suppliers to the creamery staff. We're proud and delighted to pick up these titles."
