Tony McLoughlin has been appointed general manager at our Lake District Creamery. He has been interim general manager at the site since the end of January, and was appointed in the role permanently following an internal and external recruitment process.
Prior to coming to the Lake District Creamery, Tony was interim general manager at our Maelor cheese packing facility in North Wales where he led a number of major improvement initiatives and developed a good working knowledge of our cheese business.
Tony previously worked with Northern Foods as Category Supply Chain Director for Fox's Biscuits and prior to that, he held operational positions with Cadbury Trebor Bassett and Procter & Gamble.
Jeff Halliwell, managing director of the First Milk Cheese Company, said: "The Lake District Creamery is a key plank of the future plans for our business. We have recently launched the Lake District Cheese Company cheeses, which are proving extremely popular. And the creamery is the major supplier of high quality own-label cheddar into our biggest customer, Asda, as well as manufacturing whey powder for international markets.
"The role of general manager at the creamery has grown significantly over the last six months. It combines day-to-day operational leadership, with the additional responsibility of being a lead ambassador both for our Lake District cheeses, and with the local community."
