New farmer director

New farmer director elected

Following an election on 31 July, Jim Baird has been elected to serve as a main board director for First Milk.

Jim farms near Lanark, around 20 miles from Glasgow. The business is a family partnership milking 300 cows on two dairy units covering 450 acres. The farm also carries 150 followers, grows 50 acres of winter barley and sells around 200 store calves per year.

He has been a local representative since 2006, looking after members in Lanarkshire, Lothian and the Borders.

Jim has an Honours degree in Agriculture from Edinburgh University, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Strathclyde University Business School. He completed a dissertation on dairy supply chain relationships as part of his MBA course.
