The Lake District Cheese Co has lifted silverware and a clutch of aards at this year's prestigious International Cheese Awards.
The creamery won the DSM trophy for the best Single Vintage Cheddar at the event - recognised as the largest cheese show in the world.
The team also beat off stiff competition to lift gold in both the Mature Cheddar and Vintage Cheddar categories. And there were four silver awards - three for our Mature Cheddar in a range of classes, plus one further silver medal in the English cheese maker category.
This success - in one of the most prestigious cheese shows of the 2011 season - further underlines the rise of The Lake District Cheese Co brand. Launched three years ago, the brand is now the No 4 Cheddar brand in the country, with annual sales topping more than £50 million.
Creamery manager Martin Lomas is chuffed to bits with the success:
"Winning silverware as well as six medals at the International Cheese Awards underlines our reputation as a producer of consistently high quality award-winning cheese, which consumers love and trust.
"Our talented cheese makers are creating superb quality Cheddar with the finest quality milk supplied by local dairy farms. Cheese making is both a science and an art and we are delighted to have beaten the competition. The creamery team is thrilled by our success," said Martin.
These titles come hot on the heels of the creamery winning three gold medals at the Royal Welsh Show, where they came top of the class in three categories, including Best Mature.
