Lake District Creamery Plays Host to Cumbrian Mayors

The Lake District Creamery played host to a delegation of more than 25 Mayors from around Cumbria.

The visit to the creamery came at the request of the Mayor of Allerdale, Councillor Allan Caine, who wanted to showcase key local businesses to his fellow Mayors from around the county.

The Mayors were given a presentation and tour of the creamery before taking part in a cheese tasting session with the creamery's cheese grader, Paul Stretch.

"The Mayors were extremely interested to understand how cheese is graded and the key flavours and textures to look for," explained Paul.

Lake District Creamery general manager, Paul Rowe, said the Mayoral visit was also important for the 81 employees at the creamery.

"The Lake District Creamery has a key role to play in the Cumbrian economy and it is crucial for our business to have key influencers, such as the Mayoral delegation, understand how we operate and our plans for the future.

"Our employees are extremely proud of the award-winning cheese which we make at the creamery and we are confident that following the visit, we now have a new group of ambassadors for The Lake District Cheese Company brand."
