The Grocer Top Products Survey for 2011 highlights Lake District Cheese Co. as 'Cheese's star performer'
The recent Grocer Top Products Survey 2011, published this week, has topped what has already been a momentous year for The Lake District Cheese Co. by highlighting the brand as 'Cheese's star performer'.
The write up comes as the Grocer publishes its annual Top Products Survey where the Lake District brand has been seen to show significant sales growth – growing sales by 80%, against growth of 0.3% for the overall cheese category (Source: Nielsen).
The latest published figures cement a prosperous year for The Lake District Cheese Co - a year that has seen the brand launch its first ever cinema advertising campaign as well as diversify its range to also include portions, grated and a new mild cheddar. A further marketing investment of £1million has already been committed by First Milk for Lake District Cheddar, next year.
This investment is in addition to a further backing of £15million in new equipment for the Lake District Creamery which is already seeing site developments take place to drive efficiencies at the creamery.
Included in this overall investment, will be the installation of new whey processing equipment related to First Milk's recently announced joint venture with New Zealand Dairy Farmers Cooperative Fonterra. The equipment will be delivered and installed to the site in the New Year, ready for first production in spring 2012.
