Haverforwest Creamery Scoops Hat-Trick

First Milk's Haverfordwest Creamery, home of the Pembrokeshire Cheese Company, has won a further three awards to add to their summer successes.

The west Wales creamery has lifted a prestigious gold award for its Organic Mature White Cheddar from the Great Taste Awards, run by the Guild of Fine Food. The Guild is a UK-wide trade association for producers of top quality local, regional and speciality food and drink and these awards, recognised as the benchmark for fine foods, are acknowledged as an independent accreditation of quality.

"Winning gold at The Great Taste Awards is a significant achievement as each entry is blind tasted by at least two teams of experts, including leading chefs, food writers and buyers. This gives our cheddar an independent seal of approval," explained creamery manager, Tim Whittal-Williams.

Employees at the site are also celebrating winning the top cheese title at the Mid-Somerset Show. The cheddar lifted the Supreme Champion title in addition to the class winner and alongside a further gold, silver and bronze at the show.

The team, which also won silver and bronze awards at the Anglesey Show, is enjoying a bumper season of awards this summer - a total of five gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze awards so far, with the British Cheese Awards and the World Cheese Awards still to come.

And to top off the current run of success, First Milk and The Pembrokeshire Cheese Company also won the best agricultural trade stand at the Pembrokeshire Show.

"The creamery and The Pembrokeshire Cheese Company are enjoying great success this summer and we must pay tribute to our farmers for producing the highest quality milk and our 68 employees for creating award-winning cheddar.

"The Pembrokeshire Cheese Company is going from strength to strength. We have a competitive advantage in that we can guarantee that 100% of the milk which goes into making our range comes from Welsh dairy farms".

The Pembrokeshire Cheese Company brand is available in ASDA, Somerfield, Spar and Tesco stores throughout Wales, as well as Morrisons stores throughout both England and Wales.
