Haverfordwest Creamery showcases recent investments and commitment to the Welsh economy

A group visited First Milk's Haverfordwest Creamery today (28 August) to witness first-hand how the company is investing for the benefit of its farmer owners.

The guests included the local MP - Stephen Crabb, Welsh Assembly Member - Angela Burns and The Mayor of Haverfordwest - Councillor Westrup, as well as representatives from Natural Resources Wales, NFU Cymru and Farmers Union of Wales.

The visitors received a tour around the well-invested creamery, where £9.5 million has been spent on capital projects over the last 2 years alone. They also took part in a tasting session of the award winning Pembrokeshire Cheese (which has won "Best Welsh Cheese" at the International Cheese Awards, for three years running). Finally, the group also had the opportunity to try other great tasting nutritious foods from First Milk's added value portfolio - such as The Lake District DairyCo. Quark and the CNP professional sports nutrition range.

Nigel Evans, First Milk farmer director and vice-chairman designate said: "Today's event was about highlighting our commitment to Welsh producers. First Milk generates £180 million per year of economic activity in Wales and the series of investments being made at our Haverfordwest Creamery are all about furthering the interests of our farmer owners. We have a strong core business which makes a significant contribution to the Welsh economy and through our innovation pipeline we are securing an exciting future, adding greater value to every litre of our members' milk."
