First Milk has won a contract to supply Somerfield with Scottish cheese.
First Milk has won a contract to supply Somerfield with Scottish cheese. Additionally, Somerfield have also renewed First Milk's contract to supply the retailer with English and regional cheeses, which First Milk inherited when it acquired part of Dairy Crest's cheese business last year.
Both contracts are for twelve months.
Somerfield will also be listing a new First Milk brand, Highlands and Islands, from 28th May. This brand will be launched and distributed primarily in Scotland, and will be supported by a strong regional promotional plan which will also include First Milk's existing brands – Isle of Arran, Isle of Bute, and Mull of Kintyre.
All the English and regional cheese lines are currently undergoing a redesign, and will be re-launched in Somerfield stores in June with new packaging.
The vast majority of the cheese will be supplied through First Milk's creameries at Aspatria in Cumbria, Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, and Campbeltown in Argyll.
