Chairman's View

Since the start of this year, the membership team has been working extremely hard to recruit new producers. By the end of May, they had successfully signed up 74 farmers. Then Dairy Farmers of Britain went into receivership and the recruitment environment dramatically.

Taste of Scotland Show is a Success

Our Scottish cheeses were recently showcased at the Tesco ‘Enjoy the Taste of Scotland’ event in Glasgow’s George Square. Thousands of consumers sampled our Highlands & Islands and Scottish Pride cheddars over two days and we even sold out of stock.

New Salt Targets for Cheese

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has published new 2012 salt reduction targets for over 80 categories of food including cheese. The purpose of these targets is to help the FSA achieve its long term aim of reducing people’s average salt intake to 6g a day. At present a normal portion of cheese contains 0.6g of salt.
