A major piece of work to introduce a single integrated system that will be used to service every area of the business from manufacturing through to sales & marketing and finance will be implemented in First Milk this year.
The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project will assist in driving our business forward to even greater success as its implementation will give us increased operational efficiency and improve the speed and quality of information which is currently being passed within the business.
Mike Hartman, finance director of our cheese business and project sponsor, explained why we need to undertake this change: “The First Milk Cheese Company still relies on a number of financial and IT systems that we share with Dairy Crest and the initial phase of this project is to remove that reliance, which will take place in late June. As the First Milk group continues to grow, it is clearly in our interest that we consolidate onto one business system.”
