Our Lake District Cheese Company brand continues to go from strength to strength with sales of the cheese building strongly throughout the county. The strategy of building local sales of the cheese is proving highly successful with more than 400 outlets now stocking the brand. The latest phase of our campaign is to capture some of the lucrative tourism market, which traditionally starts in the Lake District around Easter. As you will have seen from the front cover, our brand – along with our strapline ‘Born and Grazed in Cumbria’ – will be seen on bus sides across the county for the next six weeks. To reinforce the brand building campaign, we will also have posters in key locations in Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness, including bus shelters as well as an advertising campaign in local press and regional magazines. Natalie Hargreaves, Lake District Cheese Company brand manager, reckons that our latest campaign will be seen by more than 1,000,000 people over the coming weeks. “Bus side advertising is an excellent vehicle for us to build awareness of the brand both among local residents and tourists and we’ve backed this up with poster and press advertising too. We believe it will make a real impact.” Our Cumbrian members are also playing a key role in brand building as they take delivery of their new Lake District Cheese Company branded farm signs over the coming weeks. The initial batch of 90 signs are now being delivered to farms and one of the first to erect his sign was Richard Gott of Burton House Farm in Tallentire, Cockermouth. Richard runs the farm with his dad Clifford while his 13-year-old son Ben also does his fair share. The family have 120 milking Holstein Friesians on their 220 acres and Richard says he is delighted with progress at The Lake District Creamery. “I think The Lake District Cheese Company is a super idea and I am fully supportive of the brand. There’s a great sense of pride from all the family now that we have our farm sign in place. I am proud to be associated with the brand, with the creamery and with First Milk,” said Richard. |
