The launch of our Isle of Bute Organic cheese was a rip-roaring success at the recent eatBute08 food event. So much so, that we sold out within three hours of the cheddar going on sale.
First Milk was one of the key sponsors of the two-day celebration of local food, showcasing the best produce from Bute and the surrounding areas while at the same time, highlighting to farmers, producers and consumers, the importance of producing and consuming food that is good, clean and fair.
The Mount Stuart Trust, which organised the event, arranged tours for invited guests and celebrity chefs – including TV culinary wizard Nick Nairn – around a number of local food producers, including our own Rothesay creamery.
A team of celebrity chefs, led by Skye Gyngell, created a five course dinner in the stunning surroundings of Mount Stuart in the evening, where a hand-selected 2 year old vintage Isle of Bute cheddar took centre-stage.
The following day, hundreds attended the farmers’ market held in the grounds of Mount Stuart, and once again, our Isle of Bute cheddar played a leading role. Consumer tasting sessions led to hundreds of sales and the feedback was exceedingly positive.
“We used the eatBute events to launch our new packaging for our Isle of Bute cheese, which gives the product a more contemporary image,” explained Graham Sheach, our First Milk Cheese Company Regional Brand Controller for Scotland.
“We hope the new-look brand will increase our number of loyal customers as well as encourageing trial from new consumers.
“We will keep members informed of availability as the brand is rolled out over the next couple of months.”
