First Milk’s success with training and First Milk Academy in particular, was high on the agenda at a recent dairy industry conference.
Mike Gorton, our Local Representative for Lancashire, Cheshire, North Staffordshire and North Derbyshire was speaking at the conference organised by Dairy Farmers of Britain. He outlined the role of our Local Representatives, with specific emphasis on the importance of two-way communications - promoting the aims of the business to the membership as well as communicating the views and perspectives of members back to the Board.
He also talked about the development of the Training Needs Assessment programme for Local Representatives, which covers key areas such as roles and responsibilities, business skills and communication.
Mike’s presentation then focussed in on First Milk Academy and raising awareness of our efforts to achieve sustainability for our members through best practise. He spoke about farmer collaboration through the Academy Business Clubs and the accredited training via the Professional Development Workshops.
“My presentation was very well received by the audience who saw the benefit of making the professional development workshops available to all members as the way forward,” explained Mike.
