With just four agricultural shows already held so far this year, our First Milk Cheese Company cheeses are doing us proud with awards.
Some 38 prizes have been scooped up so far comprising 6 golds, 10 silvers and 22 bronzes. The Lake District Creamery leads the way with the gold medals having picked up 1 at the Bath & West Show and then 3 at the Cheshire Show while Haverfordwest and Campbeltown both collected gold at the Royal Highland Show.
Employees at The Lake District Creamery are delighted that their Smokey cheese has lifted gold, given that it is one of the trio of cheeses making up The Lake District Cheese Company range.
The Haverfordwest team are proud of their gold medal for their organic cheese, as they only began making organic a year ago.
Each of our five creameries has a clutch of medals to date and there is a friendly rivalry to be the best in the business at the end of the year!
Managing director of our cheese business, Jeff Halliwell, added: “Cheese shows are the shop window for our products and we know existing and potential customers take notice of who’s winning the big prizes so it is great for the reputation of all of our creameries to be known as producers of award-winning cheese”.
