The First Milk Cheese Company has appointed a new General Manager to lead its Maelor cheese packing facility in North Wales.
Chris Palmer (left), who joined us in late December, has latterly spent more than a decade with Weetabix Ltd where he was Head of International Sales and more recently, Head of Manufacturing. Chris led a 75-acre multi-plant site, employing 770 people and controlling a budget of over £30 million.
As well as his ten years with Weetabix, Chris (46) has clocked up a further 18 years’ experience with international food and drinks brands including UB Ross Young’s, Golden Wonder Ltd and Cadbury Schweppes.
Jeff Halliwell, Managing Director of First Milk’s cheese business said he was delighted to have secured Chris’ services: “Chris has an incredible pedigree working in the fast moving consumable goods (FMCG) sector and his experiences from global businesses such as Weetabix and Golden Wonder means he will be a real asset to us going forward.”
Chris is also excited about the opportunities ahead: “As the largest UK-based cheese supplier, FMCC is building an impressive reputation in the marketplace. I have a proven track record in both branded and private label food business and I look forward to bringing this experience to benefit First Milk.”
Our Maelor packing facility is the largest cheese packing factory in the UK, with 400 employees packing more than 70k tonnes of cheese each year.
