Matthew Backs Cluster Exchange (November 07)

One farmer benefiting from our exclusive Cluster Exchange Scheme is Matthew Ingram, who milks 150 cows near Ludlow, Shropshire through a 18:18 milking parlour.

Matthew joined the Cluster Exchange Scheme last summer after an on-farm demonstration showed how the cows would respond to the liner – in his case a new Avon IP10U triangular liner.

“The cows milk out cleanly, liner slippage has been reduced and milk flow has improved,” he said.

“For me, I have been able to upgrade my milking claws, shells and liners at a discounted price compared to buying units outright. I’ve got a much lighter milking claw – about half the weight of my old units - which has greatly reduced fatigue.”

The new claws have reduced milk frothing, which has also saved electricity costs and the liner scoring service also allowed him to make changes to his dairy chemical usage.

Added Matthew: “The totally managed service where all of the milking units arrive on farm assembled is fantastic, as all I have to do is change the claws. It saves me hours of time, and as the costs are fixed, including breakages, I know my costs.”
