FM Direct and FMCC In Electricity Partnership (May 2008)

To ensure the First Milk Group obtains the best possible offering for the supply of electricity, FM Direct and The First Milk Cheese Company (FMCC) have agreed a joint strategy for the purchase of electricity.

The total usage for First Milk members is broadly similar in terms of size to FMCC, and both have been adopting successful buying strategies to date.

Combining this buying power provides increased options and the opportunity to negotiate further discounts.

This will be delivered via a wholesale energy buying strategy which First Milk will operate in conjunction with the energy partner for the business, Inenco.

Purchasing energy on the wholesale market means First Milk has complete flexibility to decide when to buy energy and what volumes to purchase – a member on a standard energy contract can only buy in periods dictated by the termination date of the current contract. These periods tend to be the most expensive periods in which to purchase energy.

FMCC embarked upon this strategy on 1st April 2008 and members will be able to become part of the First Milk Group wholesale deal from 1st October 2008. This is a major step forward for First Milk producers and is an offering unavailable to individuals – a clear benefit to being part of a co-operative and using its collective buying power. All members currently registered with Inenco will be contacted directly with further information.

FM Direct’s electricity deal is open to all members and to obtain more information please contact Inenco on the dedicated First Milk telephone number 0845 454 0191.
