The Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle was the beneficiary of our novel approach to launching Cumbrian cheese from The Lake District Cheese Company.
Instead of asking outlets to pay for their first stocks of the new cheese, the sales teams who were visiting all the key outlets in the area, asked for voluntary donations to the Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle. The hospice provides palliative care for people in North Cumbria and South West Scotland with terminal or life limiting illnesses.
Following a very successful day where there was a huge positive reaction from the local community, the team had successfully raised £2,500 for the hospice.
Our local farmer John Swainson, who appears on The Lake District Cheese Company packaging, was delighted to hand over the proceeds. He said: “The new cheese celebrates what is great about the region and the role the hospice carries out in Cumbria certainly falls under that banner.”
Colin Powell, Head of Fundraising at the Eden Valley Hospice, said: “We’re delighted to accept this cheque; it means a great deal that local people and local businesses like The Lake District Cheese Company continue to support local causes like ours.”
