With a 1ppl increase from 1 August, Peter and his team have successfully delivered a significant step towards achieving a sustainable milk price. We are fully aware of the current situation on farm cost and the need to get further increases back as quickly as possible. Part of our strategic rationale for vertical integration was the face–to-face access to retailers it would provide. We saw this, and still do, as the opportunity to build strategic partnerships especially in innovation. But it also gives us the negotiating platform we need as Peter and his team have shown this time round.

More Awards For Our Cheese |
|
With the cheese show season now having passed its halfway stage, our cheese business has been very successful.
To date this year, we are well ahead of our performance last year with 87 awards – 1 Reserve Champion, 17 gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze medals, and 9 Very Highly Commended (Nantwich only).
Lake District is leading the way with one reserve champion and 9 golds, while Haverdfordwest boasts the largest number of medals in total with 33 so far.

Model Nell Appears on First Milk Tankers |

Three First Milk tankers have been liveried up with giant images of model Nell McAndrew wearing a milk moustache.
The Scottish Dairy Marketing Company has provided the funding for the move which promotes the ‘Celebrity Milk Moustache’ campaign in Scotland to highlight the benefits and encourage more people of all ages, to drink milk.

Royal Welsh Show A Great Success |

We had a very good Royal Welsh Show from 21 – 24 July. Our stand worked very well and there was a real buzz throughout the four days.
We used the show to launch our Pembrokeshire Cheese Company and were assisted in this by a Welsh Assembly Minister and three Welsh rugby heroes.
