Scottish actress Ashley Jensen has become the latest celebrity to support ‘The White Stuff Milk Moustache’ campaign.
The campaign, a joint initiative between The Scottish Dairy Marketing Company – funded by a number of dairy companies including First Milk and Robert Wiseman Dairies, and The Milk Development Council – promotes the health benefits of drinking milk to the younger population.
Ashley – one of the stars of the hit US TV series ‘Ugly Betty’ – joins a long list of celebrities, including boxer Amir Khan, model Nell McAndrew, musician Myleene Klass and bands McFly and Westlife who have supported the campaign.
In recent years, ‘The White Stuff Milk Moustache’ campaign has helped increase consumption of milk among young people in Scotland, with 83% now believing that drinking milk is a healthy option. Health professionals are becoming increasingly concerned that the diets of teen girls and young women in particular, are not high enough in calcium because they perceive that milk is fattening.
Sandy Wilkie, Chairman of The Scottish Dairy Marketing Company, is hopeful that Ashley’s involvement in the campaign will further improve awareness levels. ”Milk contains a wide variety of nutrients that can offer health and beauty benefits to girls and teenagers now and in later life as part of a healthy balanced diet.”
