Reading industry press coverage recently, I have been struck by two points.
Firstly, our decision to commission Promar to do cost of production analysis has proved a good one. The timing of the report has been particularly opportune in focusing the minds of our customers, especially when some of them had been talking about price cuts until very recently. However, even this report that we launched last month is starting to look conservative on cost increases with feed and fertiliser maintaining their upward climb.

Meetings with Politicians |

As a result of sharing the Promar report widely with our political contacts, we have had a large number of requests for face-to-face meetings from MPs, MSPs and AMs. In order to meet these requests, we have set up group briefings in Westminster, Edinburgh and Cardiff. This will enable us to explain the main recommendations of the report and ensure we strengthen our relationships with these important people. Our first meeting is with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Dairy Farming at Westminster on May 6th. |
