Our Board of Directors is made up of farmer members and industry experts who together are well placed to deliver the strategy set by our members. Our experienced executive leadership team run the business day-to-day.
Chris Thomas became First Milk chairman on August 1, 2018.
Chris has a strong track record of successful leadership in the food and dairy sectors, having held senior executive and non-executive positions across a range of businesses including Tulip UK, Adelie Foods, Bakkavor, St. Ivel, PepsiCo and Mars. He is currently non-executive Chairman of G’s Convenience Foods and Street Eats Food Ltd and a non-executive director of Espersen.
Shelagh has over 25 years' experience in the food and agricultural supply sectors.
Most recently she held the roles of Managing Director and Business Development Director at Medina Dairy where she led the development of strategic relationships and business growth with major retailers. Prior to this, she held a number of senior executive positions at the farmer-owned co-operative Milk Link including Milk Business Unit Director and Membership Director.Close
Jim Baird farms 450 acres in the Clyde Valley, Lanarkshire and milks 340 cows as part of a family partnership.
Jim undertook a Nuffield scholarship in 2010, visiting countries including USA, China, Australia and New Zealand to research the key attributes of enterprising rural businesses. Jim also sits on the Scottish Advisory Board of the NFU Mutual.Close
Greg joined First Milk in 2010 and held several senior management and executive roles in finance and commercial before being appointed as chief financial officer and joining the board in September 2017.
Greg has 12 years' dairy experience. Prior to First Milk he was with Lactalis McLelland as Industrial Finance Director.Close
Robert is a partner in two dairy farms, with a total of over 1,000 cows (growing from 80 cows 20 years ago).
He is past county chairman of Cumbria NFU and a Nuffield scholar. In 2012, he became chairman of Penrith and the Border Conservative Association and in 2013 he jointly won the Farmers Weekly Dairy Farmers of The Year Award. Robert is also a trustee of the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers.Close
